This magnificent solitary giant stands majestically in the Roman countryside, dominating the Tiber Valley. But don’t be intimidated by its grandeur, because behind that imposing silhouette lies a world of wonders ready to be discovered!
Our hiking begins in Sant’Oreste, the starting point to conquer the summit of Monte Soratte. But the true gem of Monte Soratte is the Hermitage of San Silvestro, a true oasis of spirituality that dominates the mountaintop. Here we will take a break, rest, and enjoy our panni immersed in the peace and beauty that surrounds us (and if we’re lucky, we might even visit the hermitage, as it’s freely accessible during one of Sant’Oreste’s many festivals).
Our adventure doesn’t stop here! During the descent, we will make a stop at the mysterious Sasso di San Nonnoso, a place steeped in legends and fascinating tales. Let yourself be carried away by the stories that will be told and be amazed by the wonders hidden among these ancient rocks.
And to conclude on a high note, we will visit the enigmatic Hermitage of Santa Romana, where you can admire a miraculous water spring that flows from a rock adorned with stalagmites and stalactites. It will be a moment of connection with spirituality and the magic that permeates this legendary mountain.
Finally, as we return to Sant’Oreste, we will treat ourselves to a well-deserved break on one of the panoramic terraces of the village, where we can savor local delights and raise a toast to the unforgettable adventure we have experienced together.
